Hand Rejuvenation

Hand rejuvenation procedures treat signs of aging and sun damage on the hands.

These signs include darkened spots, precancerous growths, loss of fatty tissue and more prominent veins and tendons.

There are various treatments depending on the specific problem and goals of the individual which may be both surgical and non-surgical. The surgical technique is

• Soft tissue augmentation - Fat loss on the back of the hands can cause veins, tendons and bones to appear more prominent. A surgical procedure known as fat transfer takes fat from another part of the body and injects it into the back of the hands to restore fullness lost (see Fat Transfer for more information)

Synthetic filler materials can be used instead of using your own fat. This is a less involved procedure because fat does not have to be harvested from another part of the body first, however, results are temporary. Synthetic fillers are discussed in more detail under the heading Dermal Fillers.
